Rio and Sao Paulo Carnival 2010: The Rehearsal

The Rehearsal

Visited the Sambodrome on 12 February 2010, the night before the Parade. Thanks to my couch surfing house, Tiago, and his couch surfing friend, Gui. Gui was joining the Parade on the second day on 14 February 2010 with Samba School Mocidade Alegre, the last year champion. I got also the chance to visit the Samba School when we went to take Gui's costume.
Below is the Sambodrome in Sao Paulo, located in Anhembi Park, one day before the Parade.

About this traveling

Traveling to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro 10-17 February 2010 this time, was my second time to Brazil. Visited before October 2007 to many places including both cities, Amazon, Pantanal, Iguazu Falls, and Salvador, this time was only to enjoy the Carnival, the biggest party on earth, they said.

In Sao Paulo, I did my first Couch Surfing (http://www.couchsurfing.com/), i.e. staying in a local place or home stay. Though the Carnival is not that famous as Rio's, the Samba School Parade at the Sambodrome was more enjoyable, since it was easier to get the good seat tickets. The Sambodrome had more space, and I even experienced the rehearsal and visit to one of the school one night before the parade. I went only to the first night of the parade on 12 February 2010.

In Rio, the prices of accommodation was rocket high. Luckily, found someone to share the room at Lonely Planet Thorntree Forum. Spent really fun times with 3 funky friends, Japanese girls live in Qatar. Enjoyed relax time on the beach, dance in the park, dinner in Copacabana. I went to both nights of the parade, on 14 February alone, and on 15 February with the 3 girls.
